El Don Resort Davao Oriental's Hidden Gem

Updated: Feb 6, 2022

Is Santorini on your list of places to visit? Is it your dream, like mine, to walk down the white stairs in Oia, Santorini? Or do you want a Mediterranean-inspired architectural design, friendly staff, and good food? Add that all up, then you have El Don.

El Don, which translates as "The Gift," is a 21-hectare coconut and mangrove farm located in Pundaguitan, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, just 3 hours from my hometown Banaybanay and 7 hours from Davao City. It's a bit of a drive, but the scenic coastal views along the way are worth it.

How to get there?

El Don Google Map

For guests with private vehicles, it is only a four-hour drive from Davao City. Those who will use public transportation will have to wait 7 hours. Please keep in mind that the last bus from Pundaguitan to Davao leaves at 3 p.m.

The reception area

You will be welcomed by friendly receptionists and offered a welcome drink. I can't remember the exact name of the drinks they gave us, but I'm pretty sure it had coconut wine in it. The crew and staff are very neat and clean, and they always have a smile on their faces, which is great.

The Restobar

The restobar is located adjacent to the reception area. This is one of my favourite spots, not only because of the food and drinks, but also because of the cool ambience. The wooden table and chairs are as if they are inviting you to "come here, dine with us."

View from the restaurante

This is the view from the restaurant. My cousin and I stayed here for about an hour, not eating the entire time, but just sitting and relaxing and admiring the view. The panoramic view of the ocean with big waves is stunning.

Santorini-inspired stairs

Santorini is, without a doubt, Greece's most photographed island. The white buildings and stairs are exquisite. The image above was inspired by their architectural design. This area faces the ocean, and you can hear the waves crashing on the shore.

The Kiosk

The Tent

The best thing about this resort is that they have a limited number of guests, so it is not crowded. There are enough tents and kiosks to accommodate all of the guests. Isn't it nice to imagine yourself sitting here, drinking a margarita?

The Pool Area

The swimming pool is in the middle of the property. If you are not a beach person, you can come here and order drinks and have a good time.

Thank you so much for exceeding my expectation El Don! I can't wait to come back.
